PHP UPGRADES / WORDPRESS COMPATIBILITY
PHP upgrades.
WordPress compatibility.
Upgrade an ageing PHP environment or resolve a WordPress problem after a runtime change. Plan the work around your theme, plugins, custom code and the business journeys that matter.

INVENTORY → STAGING → RELEASE
Map code, extensions and dependencies
Repair and check a representative staging site
Release with an agreed recovery plan
Illustrative editorial workspace; not a client website, incident or delivered system.
Choose a supported destination. The PHP project lists branch support dates; application compatibility and your host’s available packages also determine a sensible upgrade path.
WHEN THIS SERVICE HELPS
Move PHP forward.
Keep your website useful.
You are still on an old PHP branch
Assess the application and hosting constraints before choosing a supported target and estimating the remediation work.
A PHP change broke your website
Investigate the error, recent runtime change and affected plugin or custom component before making further changes.
Your agency needs a repeatable upgrade process
Turn a list of client sites into a staged plan with named approvers, dependency checks and a release record for each site.
AGREE THE WORK / CHECK THE RESULT
A scope you can review.
Dependency and runtime inventory
Review the PHP environment, WordPress version, active theme, plugins, custom integrations and available logs. Identify abandoned or unsupported dependencies that may need replacement.
Compatibility assessment and repairs
Reproduce agreed problems on staging where available. Update or adapt the components included in scope and record third-party limitations that cannot be solved by changing a runtime setting.
Staging validation and release planning
Define critical paths, test the proposed runtime and agree how new enquiries or content changes will be protected during the release. Include backup and rollback responsibilities.
Release checks and handover
Deploy the approved work, verify the live environment and document remaining warnings, licence needs and follow-up ownership. Any ongoing monitoring period is agreed in the quote.
A version switch is not the whole upgrade
A host’s PHP selector changes an environment setting; it does not review your website’s dependencies. A maintained plugin, an abandoned theme and an old custom integration can each require a different decision. The quote should make those decisions visible rather than hiding them inside a promise to switch versions.
The destination runtime is chosen after reviewing support status, package availability and application compatibility. I do not assume the newest release is suitable for every site. A larger migration may require a staged code repair or component replacement, which is discussed before the production change.
Compatibility work for real website operations
For a business website, a useful acceptance list includes the pages staff edit, the enquiry process, search, file uploads, login and the integrations that move enquiries to the team. A page loading successfully is only one part of the handover. The checked scope and the things not checked are recorded together.
Remote delivery is available to owners and agencies worldwide from India. Share the current runtime if known, the host, the site URL, any errors and the target date. I will assess the available information and propose the next investigation or implementation step. Do not include credentials or customer records in the enquiry.
HOW WE WORK TOGETHER
From the first review
to a useful handover.
01
Map the environment
Gather the runtime, hosting constraints, custom-code details and the functions currently used by the business.
02
Prove the upgrade on staging
Check representative content and functionality. Resolve the agreed dependency or code issues before the live change.
03
Agree the release window
Confirm who can approve, pause a release or restore a backup. Decide how post-backup business data will be handled.
04
Check and hand over
Verify the live runtime and selected user journeys. Supply the change record and a list of any open work.
PLAN THE NEXT STEP

Changing WordPress Hosts in the UK: Include PHP Compatibility in the Brief
BEFORE WE BEGIN
Good questions.
Clear answers.
Understand the access, scope and limits before commissioning work.
Yes, I can assess the failure and quote repair work. The investigation looks at the error, recent changes and the affected component. A compatibility failure is not automatically evidence of a hacked website.
I can assess WordPress and PHP codebases for an upgrade path. The required work depends on the application and dependencies; an assessment does not promise that every legacy component can be retained.
A representative staging environment is preferred. If hosting does not provide one, we agree how it can be created or document the limits and risks of the available approach before proceeding.
A recovery plan is agreed before release. It must consider both code and data, including any enquiries or content created after the backup. Rolling back is not treated as a substitute for a supported long-term runtime.
The quote states the release checks and any agreed follow-up period. Routine maintenance, monitoring and future upgrades are offered as separately defined ongoing work.
LET’S DEFINE THE RIGHT NEXT STEP
Discuss a PHP upgrade
Share the website, hosting provider and the situation you need help with. I will review the context and propose an assessment or implementation scope. Availability, access and pricing are agreed before work begins.
Keep credentials private. Do not send passwords, keys or customer records in this form. Any required access is arranged after the scope is agreed.
