CONTENTFUL TO WORDPRESS / HEADLESS CMS MIGRATION
Contentful to WordPress Migration
Contentful to WordPress migration planning and implementation for teams changing their website publishing setup. Review content types, linked entries, assets and locales, then decide how the website and its connected applications should work.

Contentful
WordPress + Elementor
Illustrative workspace. Screens show concepts, not a delivered client project.
CUSTOM DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION
Preserve the relationships.
Simplify the website workflow.
A Contentful space can serve more than one frontend. The first decision is whether WordPress replaces the marketing website, the content source or both. We review the consumers and content model before choosing a destination and rebuilding the approved public-facing layouts.
Spaces & environments review
Identify the spaces, environments and content used by the website. Clarify which data belongs in the move and which remains necessary for other applications.
Types, fields & entry mapping
Map content types, fields, linked entries and taxonomy into WordPress structures. Use stable source identifiers to plan how references will connect after import.
Rich text & embedded entries
Review the way rich text includes linked entries and assets. Define an appropriate renderer or editing representation rather than discarding meaningful relationships.
Assets & locale planning
Inventory files, descriptions, alternative text and translated fields. Agree language destinations, translated URLs and checks for unavailable or restricted assets.
Frontend rebuilt in Elementor
Implement the approved website in native editable Elementor layouts. Review dynamic content, reusable patterns and features supplied by the existing frontend.
Webhooks, URLs & release checks
List the publishing events, APIs and integrations that depend on Contentful. Plan retained connections, redirects, a final content freeze and representative validation.
THE DETAILS THAT SHAPE THE PROJECT
One content space.
Possibly several consumers.
A website rebuild should begin with a consumer map. Other apps may still need the same content even when the public website moves to WordPress.
01
Exports need destination mapping
Contentful documents space export tools for its content model and data. A WordPress migration still needs a transformation plan; the exported structure is not a native Elementor website.
02
Reference-heavy sample content
Select content with linked entries, embedded assets and a locale variation. Validate their relationships before committing to the wider import.
03
Editorial workflow decisions
Agree how drafts, reviews, scheduled work and publishing events should operate in the destination. Record any source workflow that will remain elsewhere.
A QUOTE BASED ON YOUR ACTUAL SETUP
Clear inputs.
A reviewable scope.
Content and feature complexity, integrations, languages, source access and review requirements determine the work. Discovery, implementation, licences, hosting and ongoing support are separated in the proposal. A schedule follows the agreed scope and availability of the inputs.
What replaces the frontend?
Define whether the current frontend remains or becomes a WordPress and Elementor build. Content movement and frontend replacement are related but separate work items.
How will references be represented?
Agree content relationships and reusable entries in the destination. Avoid treating shared information as independent copies without an update plan.
What happens at publication?
Review webhooks, indexing and connected systems. Test the agreed events and ownership before retiring source connections.
FROM AN ASSESSMENT TO AN AGREED BUILD
Discover. Implement.
Review the result.
01
Review & define
Review the current setup and agree the project boundary, inputs, owners and acceptance checks.
02
Test a representative sample
Build or map a contained example in staging. Use the findings to confirm the wider implementation.
03
Build & review together
Implement the agreed work in stages. Review important pages and functionality against the brief.
04
Release & hand over
Agree the release checks, recovery responsibilities and practical editing or setup documentation.
WORK WITH THE DEVELOPER DOING THE BUILD
A person to talk to.
Work you can review.
I’m Jagjeet Singh, a WordPress developer based in India. Review my portfolio and discuss the contribution relevant to your project. We agree requirements, communication and review checkpoints around the work you need.
Platform reference: Contentful: content and model exports. The documented source tools inform discovery; the WordPress mapping and rebuild are scoped separately.
BEFORE YOU DECIDE
Good questions.
Clear answers.
Is a Contentful export ready to import into WordPress?
No. Exported data and content models need mapping and transformation into the chosen WordPress structure. Rich text, assets, references and languages require representative checks.
Can you keep linked entries and reusable content?
We can assess the relationships and define a suitable WordPress model. A sample with linked content helps verify identifiers and how editors will manage the information.
Do we have to replace every application using Contentful?
No. The assessment identifies all relevant consumers and agrees the migration boundary. Other apps may continue using Contentful while the website follows a separate scoped approach.
Can the new website use Elementor?
Yes, an approved website rebuild can use native Elementor layouts and templates. Structured data and dynamic content are planned alongside those layouts.
How are translated fields and URLs handled?
We review locales, fallback decisions and translated routes. The scope defines the WordPress language approach and the content checks needed for the retained locales.
How do you estimate this migration?
The content graph, frontend, locales, assets, integrations and editorial requirements determine the work. Share a model overview and representative content so we can discuss a discovery scope.
PROJECT FIT & IMPLEMENTATION
Map Contentful entries without breaking their relationships.
Contentful to WordPress migration should begin with the content model and the applications that currently consume it.
What should a Contentful content export sample include?
Provide representative content types, linked entries, assets and locale variants with authorised source access. Agree how relationships and rich content should appear in WordPress. Validate sample imports and editor layouts before estimating the wider transfer; an export alone does not define the finished website.
Can we keep a separate frontend after leaving Contentful?
Review whether the target should be an editable Elementor website or WordPress as a headless content source. Identify every frontend or application that reads the current content and how its integration would change. The migration proposal should separate content transfer, website rebuild and downstream application changes.

HAVE A PROJECT IN MIND?
Let’s make the
next step clear.
Share the public website or a short brief and the work you are considering. I will review the requirements and follow up to discuss a practical scope and approach.
- Website URL, spaces and environments in scope
- Content types, locales and approximate entry volume
- Other applications consuming the same content
- Frontend, webhook and editorial workflow requirements
