Product management consulting

Product Management Consulting

A long feature list does not tell your team what matters next. I help founders, startups, SMEs and agencies connect customer needs, business goals and technical constraints so you can choose a direction and turn it into an actionable product plan.

Work with Jagjeet Singh on a defined consulting engagement covering research, strategy, prioritisation or roadmap planning. Based in India, working remotely with teams in India and internationally.

RESEARCH / PRIORITIES / DELIVERY

Make the next product decision with a clear direction.

A CLEAR ENGAGEMENT

Bring a decision. Find a useful next step.

Bring a specific decision, a product that needs direction or competing priorities your team cannot resolve. We agree the questions, working scope and decision outputs before the engagement begins.

  • Founders choosing an initial audience, core problem or next product direction before committing more development budget.
  • Startups with customer requests and delivery pressure that need a reasoned way to prioritise their roadmap.
  • SMEs planning a customer portal, custom CRM or internal application around real operational needs.
  • Agencies that need product research and planning support for a client engagement, with clear ownership and handover.

WHAT WE CAN WORK ON

A scope built around your product.

A clear problem and product brief

Define who the product serves, which problem deserves attention and what the business needs to achieve. Record the constraints, assumptions and decisions still open so stakeholders can discuss the same brief rather than separate interpretations.

Research that informs the decision

Plan and conduct the agreed customer and stakeholder research, review existing feedback and map the alternatives people use today. Separate observed needs from assumptions, and explain what the available evidence can and cannot support.

Product direction and trade-offs

Translate the evidence into options for your product. Compare the intended audience, value, commercial considerations and implementation constraints, then document a recommended direction with the reasoning your team needs to assess it.

A prioritised opportunity list

Review feature requests and opportunities against agreed criteria such as user need, business value, risk and effort. Capture dependencies and the reason behind each priority so a new request does not automatically displace more important work.

A roadmap your team can discuss

Build a roadmap around goals, priorities and learning needs. Distinguish current commitments from later options, make dependencies visible and identify review points. The roadmap becomes a shared planning tool that can change when the evidence changes.

A practical next-step handover

Leave with decision notes, defined next actions and an agreed owner for each open question. Where delivery is next, translate the selected direction into a usable brief, initial backlog and measurement questions for your design and development team.

This is a defined consulting engagement with agreed questions and outputs. Ongoing embedded product ownership is available through Fractional Product Manager support; a focused prebuild engagement is covered by Product Discovery & MVP Planning. Development, research recruitment, specialist design and any additional work are scoped explicitly. Research and recommendations inform decisions without promising demand, investment or commercial results.

FROM CONTEXT TO ACTION

A shared process. Clear responsibilities.

01

Agree the decision to make

Review the product, audience, business context and current blockers. Agree the scope, stakeholders, access requirements and outputs, including how the final recommendation will be reviewed.

02

Gather and assess evidence

Run the agreed research and examine relevant product information. Surface gaps early, test the most consequential assumptions and share findings with enough context for your team to challenge them.

03

Choose priorities together

Compare options, discuss trade-offs and resolve the decisions within scope. Create the product direction, priorities or roadmap required for the engagement, with assumptions and dependencies clearly recorded.

04

Turn direction into action

Walk through the deliverables with your team and agree the next actions. Confirm which decisions are ready for execution, which need more evidence and who will own follow-through.

START WITH THE CONTEXT

What should we review first?

Share the information you already have. Gaps and unresolved questions are useful inputs too; we can agree what needs to be investigated before making commitments.

  • Your product, business model and the customers or users you want to serve.
  • The decision or planning problem you want this engagement to resolve.
  • Existing research, customer feedback, product data or relevant documents.
  • Your stakeholders, delivery team and access to potential research participants.
  • Known budget, timing, platform or operational constraints.

BEFORE WE START

Good questions. Clear answers.

We agree the remit, access, responsibilities and deliverables before work begins.

It can cover customer research, problem definition, product direction, prioritisation, roadmap planning and delivery handover. The starting point is the decision your business needs to make. We select the work that helps answer it and agree specific outputs instead of applying the same package to every product.

Yes. Bring your current roadmap, feedback, available usage information and delivery constraints. The engagement can focus on competing priorities, an unclear user problem or a proposed change. Recommendations depend on the evidence available, and any important gaps are included in the decision notes.

Product consulting can stand on its own or lead into a separately agreed build. Custom CRM and AI application development are available when they fit the chosen direction. Your existing developers can also use the resulting brief and backlog; you are free to choose the implementation team.

Yes. I work remotely from India with founders, business teams and agencies. Before starting, we agree stakeholder access, communication tools, meeting overlap, review responsibilities and client-facing involvement. Agency engagements can be structured around your delivery process and the responsibilities agreed with your client.

You receive the agreed deliverables and a walkthrough of the decisions, reasoning and next actions. You can continue with your own team, scope development separately or discuss fractional product management if you need ongoing ownership. The next engagement is agreed around what your product needs.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT NEXT STEP

Planning, ongoing ownership or delivery.

The portfolio and case studies below describe existing development work. They are not presented as evidence of prior product-management consulting engagements.

LET’S DISCUSS YOUR PRODUCT

Start with the problem you want to solve.

Tell me what you are building, who it serves and which decision is holding the team back. Include your current stage and any research or roadmap already available. I will review the context and discuss a suitable consulting scope.
