DJANGO TO WORDPRESS / MIGRATION SERVICES

Django to WordPress.
Plan the application.

Django to WordPress migration assessment for businesses that want easier editing of a content-led website. Map the public content, rebuild approved layouts in Elementor and make a clear decision about the Python application behind it.

A WEBSITE MOVE WITH A DEFINED SCOPE

Start with the right question.
What should WordPress replace?

Django is a web framework, so two Django websites can have very different models and business logic. Moving marketing pages to WordPress may be practical while a Python service continues to handle application work. I review the current architecture and editing needs, then help define a complete content-site move, a split architecture or a more limited rebuild. The proposal follows that decision.

DJANGO TO WORDPRESS / WHAT TO PLAN

A practical scope.
Built around your site.

These are implementation options to agree after discovery. The proposal identifies the included work, assumptions, exclusions and acceptance checks.

Architecture and CMS discovery

Identify a custom Django website or a specific Django-based CMS, its models and the application boundary. Review what content editors need to change and which functions depend on Python.

Content model mapping

Map agreed public records, rich text, categories and related objects into WordPress pages, posts, fields or content types. Define stable identifiers and validation rules before bulk migration.

Files and presentation

Review media storage, file references and embedded content. Rebuild approved templates as native Elementor layouts instead of treating Django templates as portable WordPress designs.

Application decisions

Inventory APIs, scheduled jobs, login flows and business rules. Decide which remain in Django, which need a separate implementation and which can be retired by agreement.

Routes and discoverability

Map public URL patterns, metadata and internal links. Keep suitable paths or specify redirects; check canonical URLs, sitemaps and forms in the proposed destination.

Pilot and controlled release

Validate a representative content set in staging. Agree the data freeze or synchronisation window, source and destination backups, launch responsibilities and editor documentation.

ILLUSTRATIVE CONTENT MAPPING

From the source.
To a useful destination.

A planning example, not a promise of automatic conversion. The final field and feature map is based on your installation and a representative content test.

01 / SOURCE

Selected public model records

DESTINATION

WordPress content types and fields

Review relationships, identifiers and field transformations.

02 / SOURCE

Django templates and static content

DESTINATION

Elementor layouts and shared templates

Rebuild the agreed presentation, not the Python code.

03 / SOURCE

APIs, jobs and business logic

DESTINATION

Retained services or a separately scoped rebuild

Make the application boundary explicit before quoting.

CLARIFY THIS BEFORE THE BUILD

A content move.
Not a code conversion.

Exports are inputs to transformation

Django documents ways to serialize model data. A model export is not a WordPress import or a copy of the application. The migration still needs destination mapping, relationship handling and checks against the agreed public content set.

A hybrid architecture may be appropriate

A business may keep a Python backend while moving marketing pages and publishing to WordPress. We review the domain, routes, integrations and maintenance ownership so the two systems have a clear boundary.

Private records require a separate decision

User accounts, application transactions, passwords and confidential data are not part of a routine public-content migration. Any necessary transfer needs its own authorised scope and handling plan; initial enquiries should contain no such records.

The service does not automatically translate Python logic into PHP or replace an entire Django application with WordPress. Feasibility, retained services, authentication requirements, deployment and ongoing ownership are reviewed before implementation is quoted.

FROM REVIEW TO RELEASE

Make each stage
easy to review.

01

Assess the source

Review the current site, available access, content types and dependencies. Agree the migration boundary and the decisions needed before a full quote.

02

Prove the mapping

Transform representative content in staging. Review the editing experience, references, links and difficult cases with the people approving the destination.

03

Build and reconcile

Implement the agreed templates or Studio configuration, migrate the approved content set and check counts, relationships, media and important visitor journeys.

04

Release and hand over

Agree the final update window, backups, release approval and recovery plan. Document editing and maintenance responsibilities, then review the agreed post-launch checks.

BEFORE YOU COMMISSION THE MOVE

Good questions.
Clear answers.

A few details to settle before an assessment becomes a development plan.

Not as a direct conversion. A content-led public website may be a good fit, but application-specific workflows need an architecture review. Some services may remain in Django or require a separate rebuild.

I can assess a Django-based CMS installation as part of discovery. Name the product and version, page types and custom extensions so the source-specific extraction and destination model can be evaluated.

Yes, a split approach can be assessed. We agree what WordPress owns, what remains in Django, supported API connections and the responsibilities for hosting, authentication and maintenance.

They are not assumed to transfer. If the destination needs user accounts or single sign-on, we scope an authorised identity and access plan separately from the public website content.

Share the public URL, the Django-based CMS if any, approximate content volume, required integrations and editing goals. An architecture outline is helpful; passwords and database records are not needed in the enquiry.

A CLEAR BRIEF. A USEFUL FIRST CONVERSATION.

Show me where
you want to go.

Share the current website, what you want to improve and the dependencies that must keep working. I’ll review the outline with you before proposing the scope and next steps.

Useful details: Your website URL, Django CMS if any, public content volume and Python features that must remain.

A quote separates discovery, implementation, third-party costs and ongoing support. Scope and schedule depend on the source review and approvals.
